Recognition of postgraduate degrees of the Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Chania
Athens, 28 August 2018
With Article 46 of Law 4559 (Government Gazette A 142 / 3-8-2018), the postgraduate diplomas awarded by the International Center for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (CIHEAM) are recognized as equivalent to the postgraduate diplomas of the Greek Higher Educational Institutions.
MAICh operates postgraduate programs in economics and business management, environmental management, food quality management and the chemistry of natural products, sustainable agriculture, and the genetics of fruit and vegetables and biotechnology. Along with the postgraduate programs, MAICh operates a Mediterranean Plant Conservation Unit, which has a seed bank, a botanical garden, a botanical museum and an exhibition center.
The above evolution settled, with a delay of thirty years, the issue of recognition of the titles of the Institute and formally places MAICh in its appropriate position on the scientific map of the country, a position that the Institute has already acquired in education, science and research at an international level.
MAICh has awarded postgraduate degrees to hundreds of scientists, who are currently staffing the public, private and academic sectors of Greece, the Mediterranean and the Balkan countries, and are dynamic ambassadors of our country abroad.
