CIHEAM participates in the Innovation Fair 2025 in Brussels
Brussels, 23 October 2025

CIHEAM took part in the Innovation Fair 2025, organised in Brussels by the European Commission in partnership with the African Union and the Union for the Mediterranean. The event, which gathered more than 500 participants on site and over 200 online, aimed to promote innovative solutions in the fields of public health, food security, energy transition, emerging technologies and the strengthening of scientific capacities.
CIHEAM was represented in the exhibition area through an institutional stand showcasing its activities in research, training and cooperation, as well as projects carried out by its four institutes. The Secretary General, Teodoro Miano, was notably present to engage with partners and innovation stakeholders. Like other international and European organisations attending the Fair, CIHEAM’s participation formed part of a broader intercontinental dynamic designed to bring forward concrete solutions to shared challenges across the Euro-Mediterranean and African regions.
This Brussels edition follows earlier gatherings in Nairobi, Cape Town and Cairo, which progressively structured an innovation space connecting entrepreneurs, researchers, technology firms, public institutions and financing bodies. The Innovation Fair 2025 highlighted the emergence of projects capable of moving from experimentation to real-world application, supported by regional mechanisms for networking, funding and capacity building.
In this context, agricultural innovation holds a strategic place. It responds to tangible needs related to climate adaptation, sustainable water management, product diversification, value creation in rural territories and the integration of young people into future-oriented economic ecosystems. For CIHEAM, historically committed to the sustainable development of Mediterranean agri-food systems, these exchanges represent an opportunity to deepen partnerships and encourage the dissemination of solutions rooted in local realities—be they technological advances, cooperative models or entrepreneurial initiatives.
