The exhibition 'I Eat, Therefore I Am' is coming to the Parmenides conference in Montpellier!
As part of the Parmenides XI conference — Feeding the Mediterranean, held from June 17 to 19, the CIHEAM Montpellier Institute will host the exhibition 'I Eat, Therefore I Am', created by researcher Christophe Lavelle (CNRS, National Museum of Natural History) and promoted in the region by the Association for the Promotion of a Territorial Food Project (APPAT).
At the crossroads of biology, culture, and ecology, this traveling exhibition—made up of posters and kakemonos—invites the public to reflect on our eating practices and what they represent.
A three-Act journey
- The body and food: from prehistory to the shaping of taste, including food taboos and body-related norms.
- Edible cultures: ritual food, table manners, culinary heritage, cuisine as art and diplomacy.
- Consuming nature: agricultural production, livestock farming, fishing, sustainable consumption and the food of the future.
