CIHEAM at the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum 2026: advancing cooperation for water resilience

From 29 September to 2 October 2026, CIHEAM will participate in the ONE WATER/ Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum in Rome, a major regional platform bringing together policymakers, experts, researchers and stakeholders to address shared water challenges and advance sustainable solutions across the Mediterranean.
Throughout the Forum, CIHEAM Headquarters and its Institutes will contribute to high-level panels, thematic sessions and workshops addressing water scarcity, governance, investment, innovation, the Water-Energy-Food-Ecosystems Nexus, One Water and One Health, youth engagement and regional cooperation.
CIHEAM Bari will have a particularly active role, hosting and contributing to several sessions, including One Water II: Turning Regional Dialogue into Collective Action, The Rome Initiative on Water: From Vision to Investment and discussions on water governance and investment.
On 1 October, CIHEAM Secretary General Teodoro Miano will chair the High-Level Panel “One Health, One Water”, exploring the interconnections between water, ecosystems and health. Later that day, the CIHEAM will convene the dedicated workshop "Water Security in the Mediterranean: Connecting Knowledge, Skills and Regional Cooperation”. The session will explore how knowledge, education and training, innovation and regional partnerships can help Mediterranean agriculture and rural areas adapt to increasing water constraints and translate shared priorities into concrete action.
Through this broad participation, CIHEAM will highlight its distinctive contribution at the intersection of water, agriculture and food systems, drawing on its Mediterranean networks, scientific cooperation and long-standing experience in education and capacity building.
