The CIHEAM, through the participation of Yasmine Seghirate, Administrator at the General Secretariat, took part in the webinar "Harvesting Opportunities: Policy, Twinning, and Agri-Food Value Chains Across the Mediterranean", organised by the Economic Research Forum and ANIMA Investment Network, dedicated to exploring the transformative potential of agrifood clusters in the Southern Mediterranean.

Agrifood clusters are at the heart of the Southern Mediterranean’s sustainable development, combining agriculture, technology, and culture to strengthen economic value chains.

This one-day online event brought together policymakers, cluster managers, entrepreneurs, academics, and industry leaders to discuss the latest insights, challenges, and opportunities in fostering innovation, sustainability, and cross-regional collaboration within the agrifood sector. Key discussions included:

• Showcasing success stories: Blending traditional farming techniques with modern technologies in Tunisia and Morocco.
• Unlocking collaboration: How Northern and Southern Mediterranean synergies enhance competitiveness and sustainability.
• Exploring policy frameworks: Leveraging tools like the EU Green Deal to support agrifood innovation and agro-biodiversity conservation.
