Our collegue, friend and mentor, Raymond Février, passed away on 15 November, day of his 101th birthday.
Raymond Février is a historical and inspiring figure of the CIHEAM. We pay tribute to his passionate commitment and his avant-garde vision. He has always believed in the potential of Mediterranean cooperation in the service of engaged agronomy and agriculture.
For more than 10 years, first as President of the Scientific Committee, then as Secretary-General, Raymond Février has been able to make our organisation grow.
He notably contributed to strengthening the role of research for agricultural development and to opening up new perspectives of collaboration between the countries of the two Mediterranean shores. He perceived differences and complementarities as an opportunity.
On behalf of all employees and all who appreciated Raymond Février, Plácido Plaza, Secretary General of the CIHEAM, wishes to pay tribute to him and express the most sincere condolences to his family and loved ones.
