The Secretary General of the CIHEAM Receives the Consul General of Libya

Paris, 1 June 2026 - The Secretary General of CIHEAM, Teodoro Miano, received at the Headquarters of the Organisation in Paris, Mr Mohamed Hamuda, Consul General of Libya, to continue the dialogue initiated in recent months and to explore new prospects for cooperation between the CIHEAM and Libya.
This meeting follows several recent exchanges, notably the participation of Libya in the second edition of the Ambassadors’ Lunch organised by the CIHEAM in April in Paris.
Discussions focused on activities of the CIHEAM in Libya, as well as the opportunities available to Libyan students and professionals in the fields of agriculture, food, fisheries, the blue economy and rural development. Exchanges also addressed prospects for strengthening partnerships across the Mediterranean region.
The Secretary General also presented the upcoming initiatives of the CIHEAM, in particular the 13th Ministerial Meeting, which will take place in Italy on the occasion of the International Day of the Mediterranean Diet in November. He also outlined ongoing work on water issues, including forthcoming events in which CIHEAM will participate, namely the 7th edition of the Arab Water Forum in Jeddah and the Euro-Mediterranean Water Forum in Rome.
The meeting provided an opportunity to discuss modalities for strengthening institutional relations between Libya and the CIHEAM, in a context marked by a shared commitment to reinforcing regional cooperation in support of food security, skills development and stability in the Mediterranean.
The CIHEAM reaffirms its commitment to supporting Libyan stakeholders through training activities, capacity building, research and technical cooperation, in close response to the needs of territories and populations.
